WORSHIP RETREAT WAS INSANELY FUN!!! simply awesome! and God was definitely right there at the Metro Lodge with us! at first when we read the letter we were like.. hey where is it held?oh.. No 1 Lorong 23 Geylang.. huh Geylang?!? hahaha but it was a great location with all the good food!!! all our meals were fantastic! thanks to our expert food hunters eugene and jerrold! haha my favourite was our supper! you tiao, tau huey and tau huey zui!! oh my goodness.. it was FANTASTIC!! sinful (referring to the oil-SOAKED you tiao)... but FANTASTIC! haha everyone just loved it!
retreat was really a fantastic time of bonding for the worship team even though about one-third of the people sadly couldnt make it. the icebreaker we played was one of the most challenging one i ever played!! we had to recite an ancestry line from the bible!! and there were like over 20 of us!! names like joseph and jacob was chicken feet.. but names like Zerubbabel, Manasseh and Rehoboam! it was so tough! the easiest was Zadok.. sounded like some creature from Star Wars. and i was Ahaz!! son to Jotham and father to Hezekiah :) then we had to play double whacko with those names!! it was chaotic!! everyone was so confused that ppl like eugene even killed the person he was supposed to protect!! and silly michael didnt do his job properly and i ended up having to do the forfeit with feli! hahaha but it was a whacked game of double whacko :D
besides time allocated for worship and surmon sessions we practically had all the time to play games among ourselves. abi brought all her interesting and intellectual games like Squint, Imaginiff and whats it called? erm.. Who's This? i think.. not sure. but they're all such fun games that involve a fair bit of SCREAMING and yelling!! haha but it mostly applies to Who's This? which abi and karen and so pro at!! it's a game where you have to let your team mates guess the name of a person. like if it's popeye you say the guy who eats spinach or something. but it's soo difficult when ppl, especially me, dont recognise any of the people's names!! but thats what makes it fun. like FRANK ZAPPO.. whoever he is!! i remember the round where we couldnt say anything but use actions only, we were like jabbing two fingers frantically and wildly in the air trying to say ' ZAP! ZAP!! ITS THE ZAPPO GUY!!' super hilarious :) and Squint was quite funny too!! we had to use these cards with various lines and patterns on them to attempt to form a certain picture. u need ALOT of IMAGINATION for this game. and there was this card with two small circles on it so immediately i went oooh pig nostrils!! and the funniest thing was when the game started, i partnered xuefeng and on our first try, we had to form NOSTRILS for them guess!! so we got so excited and scrambled for that one card with the two circles but no one knew why we got so frenzied since only xuefeng heard what i said about the nostrils!! until he finally put the card on his nose that they got it! haha it was soo stupid! but we got the points! Whoo! :D and in the end we got second! haha not bad not bad.
and i can proudly say that at least i've done a bit of exercise this week :D we played badminton at the small area outside the lodge. but that proved to be quite an unsuitable location since there was a roof right next to that narrow space. and people like michael and marcus constantly kept hitting the shuttlecock up to the roof!!! michael hit like 7 up in a row -.- while marcus took two days to get 10 up on the roof. hahaha well at least they could easily climb from the second level to the roof to retrieve them.. if not we'll all be dead for losing all the shuttlecocks! hahaha!
we spent so much time playing games it seriously helped bond all of us much more :D to the girls like karen feli denise joan kathleen and so on! haha egyptian rat race was fun!! well any game that involves screaming is always fun isnt it :D and MIL!! i cant believe we challenged each other to see who can spin non-stop for the longest!! that was INSANE!! i never SPUN like a maniac top out of control like that for so long my entire LIFE!!! and when we finally grabbed each other and starting swinging wildly in a circle, i got bruises on my butt from when we hurtled onto the ground ok!!! ouch my poor butt...
and of course, what adriel shared during the night was AWESOME! it was seriously fantastic! i shan't go into details about what jeremy adriel and sandy shared if not it'll go on forever, but what they said will always to firmly stuck in my head. i love the analogy jeremy gave about the empty cups. we are the empty cups, and the talents given to us by God is the water in the cup. It doesnt matter how much water God gave me or the person next to me, because what is most important it that ultimately, the water is meant for the owner, who is God, to drink. we are just the empty glasses used as a tool to serve God so we should never become complacent or find confidence in our talents because they are meant to serve God for His purpose and never for ourselves. this is a wonderful analogy that reminds me to humble and grateful to God for deciding to fill me with His gifts simply because He loves me. and all the more i should reciprocrate His love by serving Him with all my heart and strength!
adriel's almost-two-hour speech was worth all my backaches and buttaches from sitting and hunching on the ground for so long. in general, it showed us our place and authority as christians. from the beginning of times, God gave the power (dunamis in greek) and authority (exousia) to Man, then it went to Satan when Man fell, and then all the power in heaven and earth to Jesus when he was crucified on the cross. and the amazing thing is, Jesus chose to give us His power! we actually have the God-given power and authority as christians when we acknowledged Jesus as our saviour! but the thing is, Satan did not recognise that authority given to Jesus at the cross. whevever we sin, Satan then has control over us. but because we claim that authority, we have the ability to chase Satan and all the demons away because they are sitting on Jesus' authority when they simply don't have the rights too! the powerful thing is that once we claim on the authority and power that Jesus gave us, we can exert our rights as christians and conquer Satan! amazing isnt it that we can do that once we have the faith. and those disgusting demons have to listen cos obedience to authority is their weakness afterall.
yeah ok i've said a whole lot already. hahaha anyways it was truly meaningful and mind-boggling with alot of other things shared by others. and alot of other fun times we had that are just too many to jot down! but one impt thing is... BELOVED BAND WON the $100 swensens voucher!!! WHOO we rock!! $100 of ICE CREAM!! hahah yup the next quarter im in yangshen's band with gareth david shadrach joan jotum joshua marcus kathleen caleb charmaine xuefeng and yunhao!! Yes! Beloved is a WONDERFUL BAND!! <3! and it's gonna be a FANTASTIC 2007!
